| DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES CHRISTMAS PARTY
The DSS Christmas Party was established in 1988 as a way to give something back to the community during the holidays. We found that the children housed by Catawba County Department of Social Services did not have any type of sponsorship for Christmas. Some of these children do not have families and the only Christmas they receive is from their teaching parents at the group homes. These children range in age from 10-17 and have been placed in the homes for different reasons. The evening consist of a meal, gifts handed out by Mr. And Mrs. Santa, who is assisted by Conrad the Crawdad, and a DJ for music, games and dancing. This is a completely volunteer project and our staff and their family members take care of all aspects of the banquet.
