Hobby: Mountain Biking
Tell us about mountain biking. What do you like about it?
I love mountain biking because it's a killer workout and it sure beats a treadmill, it's also therapeutic, often call it two-wheel therapy. It gets me out and with nature and definitely brings adventure into my life. I get to discover new parts of the world. It teaches me how to meditate, I leave my phone in the car, and just go out in nature, follow the trail, and go with the flow. I get to meet great people on my rides. It teaches me a lesson or two about self-sufficiency, when I am riding alone in the wild with no one else around, and it also helps boost my confidence by pushing my limits and trying new things and riding new terrain. Basically the split second decisions, the close calls, the nervous laughs that ensue, it makes me feel alive.
When did you get started? What inspired you to start?
I started riding bicycles when I was 4. I’ve always felt more alive when riding and eventually got too comfortable riding on flat paved paths, so there was need for growth and busting out of my comfort zone. That’s when I decided to go ride on trails.
Do you have a favorite place you like to bike?
I like to explore, so I barely ride the same trail twice. I recently got the courage to go to Bailey Mountain Bike Park in Mars Hill, NC and I have to say that will be my favorite place to ride. I was giggling uncontrollably the whole time I was there! The trails were like nothing I’ve ridden in the past so steep that I could not just stop, and I was forced to step out of your comfort zone.
