SCHEDULING AN INSPECTION

Once your project has begun, you will need to call the Building Inspections Division to schedule inspections at different stages of construction. Catawba County has a single phone number, 828-465-8399, that handles all inspection requests. When you call, you will be greeted by an automated attendant and given the option to leave a detailed message for scheduling your inspection that will be handled during normal operating hours of operation (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday).

  • Leave a Detailed message on the voice mail: The answering service will ask for specific information such as your permit number, inspection type needed, the date you want the inspection and MOST IMPORTANTLY, you must leave your name and telephone number where you can be reached. A Permit Center staff person will be happy to schedule an inspection for you when you leave a message. This is the quickest and easiest way to schedule your inspections.

  • Speak with a Permit Center staff person: When the automated attendant answers during regular office hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday), you may press zero and the automated system will transfer you out to the Permit Center. A Permit Center staff person will be happy to schedule an inspection for you. If all staff are busy with other callers and customers, your call will be answered in the order it was received or you will have the option to leave a voice message.

Note: if you have signed up for our notification system for using text messages or emails, you will receive confirmation of the type of inspection you scheduled, and the date of the inspection once the staff have scheduled your inspection.

Using either method, you will receive confirmation of the type of inspection you scheduled, and the date of the inspection.
