Attention All Teachers!

5th Grade students are invited to attend the Environmental Awareness Field Days on either September 26th or 28th, 2017 at Southside Newton Park, Newton, NC.

Students will rotate through a series of outdoor stations for presentations by local and state agencies. The field days are designed to help youth increase their environmental awareness and understanding of local ecosystems.

Workshop stations may include aquatic ecosystems, recycling, forestry, food chains/webs, healthy nutrition choices and much more. Presenters will be using the essential core standards to help develop their presentations.

5th Grade Classes are welcome to choose to attend either of the Field Days and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the park following the presentations.

SPACE IS LIMITED Registration will be taken starting August 28th on a first come first served basis by calling the Catawba Soil and Water District at (828) 465-8950 or sending an email to Education Coordinator, Leia Hamlyn, lhamlyn@catawbacountync.gov. Please register by giving your school name, names of teachers attending, a contact number, number of students per class, and which day you prefer to attend.
