All library branches have free weekly preschool storytimes that:

• Support the development of pre-reading skills.
• Contribute to the education of young children in our communities.

Branch schedules:

• Claremont Branch: Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. for preschool & K-1st grade
• Conover Branch: Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. for preschool & K-1st grade
• Maiden Branch: Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. for toddlers & 10:00 a.m. for preschoolers
• Main Library in Newton: Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. & Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
• Sherrills Ford Branch: Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. & Preschool Musictime on Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
• Southwest Branch in Mountain View: Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
• St. Stephens Branch: Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

The Youth Services Department supports education in Catawba County and welcomes requests from teachers and homeschool parents for material to support curriculum needs.

YOUTH SERVICES GOALS

• To promote reading and learning as an important part of family life in Catawba County.
• To provide reference materials and information needed by children and youth to complete special school assignments.
• To provide outreach services to child care center in order to promote early learning and pre-reading skills.
• To assist public and private schools and homeschool families in their task of educating future generations.
